The University of Surrey is one of 32 institutions to receive a share of £40 million funding to boost social and economic research impact. Against tough competition, we are thrilled to have been awarded a further £1.25m of ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) funding, to supercharge impact generation in the social sciences.

Over the next five years, we will fund rapid response, exploratory and impact generating research projects that demonstrate the ability to bring significant, long-term benefits to society. We will also deliver a series of skills training workshops and public engagement events, to build capacity and elevate awareness of Surrey’s social science expertise.

Alongside the ESRC IAA, we are investing £150k per annum into an Arts & Humanities IAA highlighting our commitment to developing innovative avenues for arts and humanities research. We’re also expanding social science commercialisation activities, with a dedicated funding stream to take IAA project outputs such as toolkits, methods, or software, to new audiences - growing their potential for societal impact.
